Helping, fixing and serving represent 3 different ways of seeing life.
When you help, you see life as weak,
when you fix, you see life as broken,
when you serve, you see life as whole.
Service is the work of the soul.
Fixing and helping create distance….between people…
We can only serve that to which we are profoundly connected…

If you would like to train to become a certified life coach…..then read on…
As a Life Coach, we aim to serve, not to fix or to help. That would be the primary distinction.
I have been coaching internationally for over a decade.
Becoming a life coach is a very fulfilling career choice and if you have already got that calling that your purpose is to serve people to realize their own potential then yes….this will be a great career move for you.
In my opinion, you must train with an institute who is aligned with the ICF International Coach Federation (Accredited programs) So when you are doing your research make sure that their website boasts ICF Accredited Course/Training for ACC and PCC Levels. They would be ACTP Courses.
I am now a PCC Coach and trained in Ontological Coaching as well with Newfield Network.
Coaches who have been credentialed PCC or MCC by the ICF have undergone at least 125 – 200 hours of coach-specific training; have 750 – 2,500 hours of coaching experience; and have been coached by a mentor coach.
Credential holders have demonstrated a working knowledge of the ICF Core Competencies, definition of coaching, and Code of Ethics through a rigorous examination process.
The best part about this work is like Socrates said “The more we learn, the more we realise how little we really know”
A lot of my clients are coaches themselves or in training to become coaches and I sometimes offer them coaching as they go through the transition.
Having a coach when you are establishing yourself as a coach and setting up your practice is very helpful. I still work with a coach and I have been doing this for over a decade, only someone who is coachable themselves, can coach effectively.
All coaches bring their personal and professional experiences to the table. What I love MOST about being a coach is that coaches mostly operate with an abundance mentality and not lack.
The more coaches there are, the better for all of us. And we all attract the client that we are meant to attract.
Throughout the years I have trained in various personal development Workshopss and I was also involved very intensely in a “Human Potential Movement” training in Asia between 1999 and 2002
If you are truly interested in personal development and transformation then, I strongly recommend Newfield. The deep learning that they offer and the opportunities that opened for me after training with them is immeasurable. It consists of 3 live conferences and 9 – 10 month of distance learning, it is very intensive and lots of fun.
This is not about putting your toes in to try it out. This would be one of the most transformational courses you ever do AND you will be experienced, trained and get your credentials and be able to coach with confidence and dignity when you finish.
Newfield Network in Asia – Approx US$15,000 – approx 9 months and 3 trips to Singapore. Accredited
The next enrollment is in October. It includes the 3 live conferences and you also have tele-classes, study groups, learning groups, a personal coach, reading and assignments.
A very dear friend of mine runs – Newfield Network in Asia. If you decide to go with Newfield, please let me know and I will have someone get in touch with you. With Newfield, you will be assigned your own coach and mentor coach of the highest distinction so you will not need my support at all. I would call Newfield the “MBA” of Life Coach Training.

Once you have learnt the principals, the modules, understand and adhere by the ethical codes and distinctly understand the difference between counseling, therapy, psychology, consulting and coaching – you get your credentials and you can start, but the learning never ends.
How successful can you be as a life coach? Well that is entirely up to you and just like any business or practice, it depends on how much you put in and on your strategies and ultimately how good you really are.
All you get at the end of a course is your white-belt as I like to say, and then it is about practice practice practice.
Essentially, experience is essential. I do believe that you will attract the clients that you can support and as you grow, the type of clients you work with will evolve. How else will you gain experience when you are a newbie?
My coaching style is a combination of Life Coaching, NLP and Ontological & Somatic coaching. My experience has made me very intuitive and I find that I am able to facilitate growth and learning in my coachees very easily.
If you are training to be a coach and choose to work with me simultaneously, we will look at YOUR coaching style, accreditation process, business model and support you in establishing your practice. Being a fairly new profession, a lot of people call themselves coaches when they have not done any formal training and have no experience behind them.
Being good at giving advice to friends and colleagues does not constitute a coach. There are distinctions between coaching and the other practices. It is essential that the profession is kept professional and in high regard.
Please let me know if there is anything else I can support you with and if you want any coaching while you make this transition. I hope I have answered your questions. Do email me if you have any other general questions about the services we offer. If you would like to book a session with me to find out more about coaching as a profession and about my experience, let me know and I will send you a PayPal link so you can make payment.
A coach serves you as you pursue the things you want to create in your life but have not been able to do so independently as yet. As a mentor coach, I support my coachees on finishing their training, and working towards credentials, building their practice and selecting their niche, keeping them grounded and humble and I teach them ways to use their body, emotion and language to change the way they “See” themselves as a person and as a coach to best give them the results they desire. You can’t work on the coach that you are without working on the person you are. Coaching ultimately is more about “being” than “doing”.
As a PCC with the ICF, I will observe your coaching calls (you will need to record some of them and send them to me) and I will hold you to practicing and honing your competency using the ICF Core Competencies and Ethics.
I hope I have been able to shed some light on coaching for you. Feel free to email me if you have more questions or want to take it further with me or would like to know more about Newfield.
An overview on the industry
The Life Coaching and Personal Development Industry has been one of the highest growth industries in the world over the last five years. Personal development refers to activities that improve self-knowledge and identity, develop talents and potential, build human capital and employability, enhance quality of life and contribute to the realization of dreams and aspirations. What could be more “Sellable”?
According to market research and statistics, it is a 64 billion dollar industry worldwide. In the US alone, an estimated 9.6 billion dollars was invested in personal development in 2005 in the form of:- books- motivational speakers- personal coaching- weight loss programs- audio tapes- stress management programs It is also projected that this industry will grow at the rate of 11.4 percent yearly and reach 13.9 billion dollars in 2012.
Life Coach training is becoming big in India, Indonesia, Singapore, China now, as all the training institutions saw it as a growth industry, the dilemma and concern is that a lot of people who are not trained or mentored or credentialised are calling themselves Life Coaches, and using the term loosely. Part of my work in Life Coaching is to support people who want to seek coaching and those who want to become life coaches so that more and more people can in turn be coached.
Coaches don’t work on “issues” problems or go into the past to scratch the scabs off the old wounds. Coaches won’t work on severe anxiety, depression, or any other challenge that requires a psychiatrist or psychotherapist. And another distinction, an Ontological coach works on how you are “being” now, more than what you “do” (the word is big) but the meaning, is just that of “being-human” and it connects personal development and the work we do with “faith” in the Universe or dare I say, God. A coach remains non judgmental and has no agenda except to open up more possibilities for their coachee/client.
I have tried to explain it as clearly as I can, but as you can understand this is a huge conversation and it is rather challenging to sum it up into a single page. If you would like to book a session with me just to talk through all about coach training and my experience and opinions on coaching as a career.
